MPEC in Bytów
was established in 1977 as a subsidiary of WPEC Słupsk. Since 1991 MPEC has been operating independently and since 1993 as a Limited Liability Company. In 2001 MPEC became a member of Praterm Group through privatization.
The heating plant produces thermal energy for central heat and hot water in Bytów. Total installed capacity in the HP is over 24MW, and annual sales are over 130,000 GJ. Coal is the main fuel used in the HP, however gas is also used in local boiler houses.

The heating system includes one main boiler house equipped with 2 coal boilers WR-10 and two gas boilers LOOS. There are 18 local, smaller boiler houses installed in the city, all of which use gas as the fuel.
After the privatization, the general modernization and automation of the system are being implemented. The investment covers main boiler house, the grid and heat transformers. Total value of investment should exceed PLN 2 millions. The modernization will allow coal and electricity consumption reduction, which will lead to gas and dust emission reduction. The project should also increase the stability of operations and in future reduce hot water prices.
Currently there are 21 people employed in the plant. The company is run by Mr. Witold Kościelski.
